Big records Pakistan gathered while becoming the first to 200 T20Is

200 T20Is, Yes On September 25, playing a T20I match against England at the national stadium in Karachi, Pakistan came to be the first Cricketing nation to play 200 T20Is. Pakistan played their first Twenty20 International (T20I) match at the County Cricket Ground, Bristol, on 28 August 2006, against England, winning the match by five wickets.

As of September 2022, Pakistan has played 200 T20I matches resulting in 122 victories, 70 defeats, 2 ties and 5 no results for an overall winning percentage of 63.33. From these 200 T20Is, we have compiled some records which Pakistan has assembled over these 16 years in this particular format.

It was on June 21, 2009, when Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka to win their first T20 World Cup title. Nobody was estimating this team, but the way they made a comeback there existed no instance in Pakistan’s sporting history.

Nine consecutive series win, a record that will remain evergreen

Among these 200 T20Is, Pakistan won all the nine T20I series/tournaments that they played under Sarfraz Ahmed’s captaincy who took over after they were knocked out from the group stage of the 2016 World T20. Pakistan beat England (1-0), West Indies (3-0 and 3-1), World XI (2-1), Sri Lanka (3-0), New Zealand (2-1), West Indies (3-0), Scotland (2-0) and Australia (3-0). They also won a tri-series against Zimbabwe and Australia those years.

Highest Opening partnership in T20Is while chasing 

Pakistan made so many records in these 200 T20Is but if chasing in T20Is is art then Pakistan is a Picasso of it. Pakistan openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam created a record in the second T20I of the seven-match series against England in 2022. The couple added an unbelievable 203 for the opening wicket to take the team to victory in the final over of the innings.

 This Partnership also proved to be the fifth highest opening partnership ever in T20 Internationals as they went ahead of Scotland’s George Munsey and Kyle Coetzer who had enhanced 200 runs for 1st wicket.

Babar Azam remained the No.1 T20 batter for most days for Pakistan 

Since he arrived in International Cricket, Azam has remained one of the finest, Tenacious and consistent batters in this format. He has taken Pakistan T20 cricket to a new path. In every match he has played in that 200 T20Is, he has always strived to get thrived and to make his presence count.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam leapfrogged Indian robust Virat Kohli to come to be the number one T20I batter for the most consecutive days in the passing year 2022. Kohli stayed at the helm of T20I rankings for 1013 days, but Babarurpassed this number and has held on to his top spot for nearly 1100 days.
