Fawad Alam “The Historical Cricketer”
Fawad Alam is a name known to each and every Pakistani Cricket Fan not only because of his story of success but because of all the criticism he faced lately due to his technique and bad stance.
Yet the lad from Karachi was an unstoppable force on the domestic circuit and also when he showed up at the international arena. He was all guns blazing at almost every ground he played from New Zealand to Bangladesh.
His awesome return made his critics take a silent pill and many of his haters became his die-hard fans
An 11,000-plus lad with an astonishing average of 56.3 was somehow destined to play for Pakistan. His unorthodox approach was mentioned as “too good” by many greats of cricket.
Return of Fawad to the Highest Level
After around 10 years, the hard work and patience of Fawad finally gave him the reward he was waiting for and at 34, He returned to the Pakistan colours when he got selected for the Southampton test against England in place of Shadab Khan.
The start to his return was stuttering for him as he managed an average of only 10.50 in that series, yet the grit in the man was there and he was rearing to make a roaring comeback which finally came true when the team went to New Zealand and he scored a precious century in a pressure situation and scored 102 which meant to be the breakthrough to his amazing return.
The batter continued to impress with his grit and determination and scored heavily against South Africa, West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Did Fawad Alam fade away or is it just a shade of bad performance?
The Gritty Person, the determined guy seemed to be lost and was looking out for all sorts in the recently concluded test series against Australia (Aus won 0-1). The people were missing Fawad “The Fighter” who couldn’t show fight on a tailor-made wicket for batters in all three matches.
The question rises was all the gold nothing but lustre?
A lad who performed and performed and waited for his chance for a decade is finally losing his path or is it just a bad dream that he is experiencing?
His horrific performance against Australia inside Pakistan might again set selectors to think of a change or two in the squad for the upcoming series as Losing this series has made the Pakistan Qualification for the WTC final a very tough ask.

Future of Fawad in Team Pakistan
The bunch of players currently warming the bench in the Pakistan camp are not any less potential players. They have a great future for them ahead on the national as well as international levels
Players like Abdullah Shafique have shown a real strong base on the Pakistan bench.
For Fawad to keep his place on the side is going to be a Herculean task. He might not be dropped considering his seniority and experience in the team but he won’t stay longer with the team and sooner or later. If he fails to perform, he would be replaced by players like Saud Shakeel and Kamran Ghulam who are already waiting in line to be in the whites for Pakistan Cricket Team.
