The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by Virat Kohli, have reached the playoffs and finals several times. Despite this fact, they have never challenged the trophy of the Indian Premier League (IPL). For this reason, Kohli has been vastly subjected to criticism.
In the second match of RCB that has been played against KL Rahul’s Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), the veteran captain’s side lost by a wide margin. On the one hand, Rahul’s men smashed a target of 207 runs and on the other hand, Kohli’s men fell short of wickets and finally wicketless on 109 runs.

The defeat was humiliating and the skipper is questionable. Many believe that he should be sacked off from the captaincy as India’s national cricket team has faced a similar scenario to that of RCB. Kohli, being India’s full-time skipper, has failed miserably on multiple occasions.

Reasons why Kohli has failed as a skipper:
There might be two reasons for Kohli to fail as a skipper that has been clearly noticed in RCB vs KXIP. The skipper kept on rotating the bowlers for example Washington Sundar, who is known as a good bowler when it comes to delivering in powerplays. He was called in 8th over and when he settled with Chahal, Kohli called Umesh Yadav instead. The extra runs bounced gifting the game to Rahul’s men.
Sundar was brought back in the 12th over when he conceded only five runs. Even after settling his low economic rate, he diminished once again. Later, Shivam Dube, who bowled two overs and grabbed a massive wicket, was out of the attack and such rotation cost them the game.
On the other hand, the team selection in the discussed game was poor. The batting order and still not utilizing Chris Morris are the two factors that are totally out of understanding. Josh Philippe seems good but choosing him over Moeen Ali was a bizarre decision ever made by Kohli.

Aaron Finch, who has led his team, Australia, in short-format cricket, has been successful quite several times. It is time for the Red Army to swipe the captaincy roles as it can avoid the same mistake RCB are repeating for years. Finch’s national team has won on multiple occasions especially in T20Is and giving him a chance in IPL can be of a good outcome in the cash-rich league.
Who can fit in the Indian skipper’s place?
Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai Indians (MI) with four titles, is most considerable for the role. Currently, he is also the vice-captain of the national team and under his captaincy in IPL, his team has won more finals than others. It is time for the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) to think about this matter as the mega-event, T20I World Cup is not much far.
Sharma’s captaincy shuffles are not behind the curtains and one can analyze it seeing the stats of MI at the moment. He can be a better choice at least in the white-ball cricket swiping Kohli’s miserable captaincy.
