Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the appointment of Litton Das as the new T20 captain. Litton will take over the reins from Najmul Hossain Shanto, who resigned last year after Bangladesh’s poor run in the T20 World Cup. Litton’s first assignment as a full-time skipper will be the t20 Series against Pakistan and UAE later this month.

With the announcement of Litton as Captain, the BCB also announced a 16-member Squad for the T20 series against Pakistan and UAE.

Litton Das (c), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Jaker Ali, Rishad Hossain, Mahedi Hasan (vc), Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam.

Bangladesh has recalled the Trio of Former captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hirdoy, and Mustafizur Rehman back in the T20I squad, who all missed Bangladesh’s last T20 series against West last year. The only notable absentee from the squad is Taskin Ahmed who has been recovering from an ankle injury.

Before the big Series against Pakistan, Bangladesh is scheduled to face UAE in a two-match series in Sharjah. The matches are scheduled for the 17th and 19th of May. After that, the action moves to Pakistan, where both teams will play a series of 5 matches. The first two matches are scheduled to be held at The Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which is gearing up to host international cricket after 17 years, The matches at Faisalabad will be played on the 25th and 27th of May. After Faisalabad, the series will move to Lahore, where the last 3 matches will be played at the iconic and newly rebuilt Qaddafi stadium. These matches are scheduled on May 30th, 1st June and 3rd June.

Litton’s Record as Captain.
This won’t be the first time Litton will captain Bangladesh as he was also the interim captain on Bangladesh’s last T20I Series in the Caribbean which Bangladesh won 3-0, but this is the first time that the 30-year-old has been officially given the charge of the national team.
Although Litton is new in this role he has the form and record on his side to show that he can go and take this Bangladeshi side in the right direction and the T20 series against Pakistan will be the first hurdle in his path.
