It’s only been twenty days to the new year and so much has already happened in the country. But nothing beats the chaos the news of Shoaib Malik’s remarriage has caused. His marriage to his former wife and India’s tennis sensation, Sania Mirza, blew up the internet too. Fans from Pakistan were elated at this newly twined relationship deeming Malik a ‘Lucky’ guy. They even gave the new bride the title of ‘Pakistan ki bhabhi (sister-in-law of Pakistan)”. But the Indians weren’t too happy. Many rebuked Sania for marrying a Pakistani guy given the hostile relations the two countries shared. But all was well until….
Malik, Mirza and Marriage
The couple tied the knot in 2010. It was a happy marriage, well seemingly. Cricket and Tennis stars welcome their first and only child, a baby boy, in 2018. A few years into parenthood and divorce rumours began to circulate. The gossip died soon but would come to life now and then. Some even speculated that the all-rounder was cheating on his wife. But again, nothing substantial came out
Then a year ago, the pair started their TV show named the ‘Mirza Malik Show’. The show ended after 11 episodes. The two were never seen together again. Both of them removed each other from their Instagram handles and even seemed oblivious to each other on their son’s sixth birthday
Shoaib Malik’s Remarriage
While all else was happening in the background, the 41-year-old continued to play his cricket and do his local TV gigs. One of his photoshoots with a TV actress sparked quite a frenzy on the web. Here and there, jokingly, many would take a dig at Shoaib. But no one was prepared for what happened today.
When Shoaib took to his socials and dropped a picture of his Nikkah with actress Sana Javed, cyberspace erupted almost immediately. Javed was previously married to singer Umair Jaswal. The couple had announced their marriage through an Instagram post in 2020. In her case too, there was gossip on the street about a possible divorce that gained momentum in late 2023 but nothing was said officially.
Twitteratis have Mixed Emotions
Following the disclosure of news, Twitter exploded with meme and opinions. Fans speculated that the Ramzan version of the show ‘Jeeto Pakistan’ that featured both Shoaib and Sana from last two years, is the reason behind the batter’s divorce.
However a majority of people came to Sania’s defence and empathized with the former wife. They even called Malik a cheater
