I still want to represent my country, says Shoaib Malik

Shoaib Malik is one of the very few senior players with experience of 20 plus years who is still wearing the green jersey and representing Pakistan. The other senior player, Hafeez has bid adieu to international cricket but it seems like Malik isn’t following in his footsteps.

Recent Performances of Shoaib Malik

If one talks about Shoaib Malik’s performance in the recent past, the veteran cricketer did prove to be instrumental in the T20i world cup 2021. Many weren’t in favor of his selection in the squad for the tournament but the captain did want him to be included. His experience was undoubtedly seen when he smashed the Scottish players for sixes and fours. He made the record of scoring the fastest 18 balls fifty in the tournament and earned the player of the match award.

Next up, this year’s PSL was in no way unsatisfactory for him. Shoaib Malik was able to score a total of 401 runs for Peshawar Zalmi in 11 matches with a strike rate of 137.

Retirement Plans in 2021

Shoaib Malik last talked about his retirement plans in April 2021 and he indicated that he has no intention of saying goodbye to international cricket.

“I am saying very clearly today that I have not even thought about retirement. I have no plans to retire now because I am fit, I can bat, I can bowl and I can field.”
