Shoaib Malik is one of the very few senior players with experience of 20 plus years who is still wearing the green jersey and representing Pakistan. The other senior player, Hafeez has bid adieu to international cricket but it seems like Malik isn’t following in his footsteps.
Recent Performances of Shoaib Malik
If one talks about Shoaib Malik’s performance in the recent past, the veteran cricketer did prove to be instrumental in the T20i world cup 2021. Many weren’t in favor of his selection in the squad for the tournament but the captain did want him to be included. His experience was undoubtedly seen when he smashed the Scottish players for sixes and fours. He made the record of scoring the fastest 18 balls fifty in the tournament and earned the player of the match award.
Next up, this year’s PSL was in no way unsatisfactory for him. Shoaib Malik was able to score a total of 401 runs for Peshawar Zalmi in 11 matches with a strike rate of 137.
Retirement Plans in 2021

The All-rounder Wants to Continue Playing for the National Team
Talking to Pakistan Cricket, he has again hinted that he wants to give his services to Pakistan cricket for a little longer. He also is of the opinion that even though he is older than most players, he is not a burden on the team.
“Despite my age, no one can claim that I am a liability. I have performed at the highest level – especially in the T20 format –and I have shown my worth with the ball, with the bat, and especially in the field. I am thoroughly enjoying my cricket right now because I am utilizing all my experience and intensity during the games,”
“We do talk on a regular basis and we had the conversation about my future plans during the World Cup, I told him that after how everything panned out – I don’t feel like continuing anymore. However, if you ask me personally then of course I still want to represent my country,”
