Recently, the Green Team had the opportunity to interview the young and rising sensation, Shahzaib Bhatti, and gained some interesting insights into his cricketing journey, the conversation is below:
Q: What sparked your passion for cricket, and who was your earliest inspiration? Why did you choose to pursue a career in cricket over other sports?
A: My cricketing journey began when I watched National T20 matches with my family. The Faysal Bank T20 tournament was a turning point, as I saw my hometown team, Sialkot Stallions, in action. This sparked a desire to represent Sialkot at the highest level. Raza Hasan, a talented left-arm spinner, was a major inspiration. I was captivated by his bowling style, which motivated me to work towards my cricketing aspirations.
Initially, I bowled right-arm off-spin, but Raza Hasan’s exceptional skills prompted me to switch to left-arm spin. I was determined to master this style, drawing inspiration from my idol. Through dedication and hard work, I successfully made left-arm spin an integral part of my game.
My passion for cricket stems from a childhood dream to wear Pakistani jersey and lift the World Cup trophy. This ambition has driven me since I was young, and it continues to fuel my pursuit of excellence in the sport. Winning a World Cup for Pakistan remains my ultimate goal, and it motivates me every day.
