Statements make commentators eternal. Whether it is ‘ Remember the Name’ by Ian Bishop or ‘By the Barest of Margins’ by Ian Smith. Statements of Simon Doull will also make him everlasting but in which sense it is yet to be found out.
Statements of Simon Doull about Babar in the last 2 years do not coincide
From saying “I just love the way he goes about his business” to “Achieving Personal Milestones” Simon Doull has come a different way. His point of view regarding Babar Azam keeps on altering as statements of Simon Doull continue to drift from one side to another.
Former New Zealand Cricketer has complimented Pakistan’s Captain at several spots saying he is one of the best, all-format superstars, best white ball Players, etc. During the third Test between England and New Zealand in Headingley, 2022, he reinforced that Babar was incredible in terms of batting. Not many could make a case that Babar Azam is the best player in the world at the moment. As far as batting in that top order is concerned, he is unbelievable. Joe Root’s got an argument for that too. They talk about the big four, at the moment, he’s the big one,” Doull was quoted as saying.
And then New- Zealand’s current commentator wasn’t best pleased with Babar Azam‘s deceleration leading up to his first century in the PSL 7, mistrusting whether the Peshawar Zalmi skipper put the brakes on for a personal milestone ahead of the team’s benefit. Presenting his point of view he argued that “Hundreds are great, stats are brilliant, but it still must be team first”
After taking a dig at the right-hander during the recently-concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL), Doulll once again engaged in a debate regarding Babar with Aamer Sohail on air during an international tie.
This happened during Pakistan vs Afghanistan’s second T20I in the UAE back in March when the former cricketers got engaged in a fiery exchange while doing live commentary. The statements of Simon Doull suggested that Babar should not open in T20Is which Sohail interrupted. Former Pakistan opener narrated that the Average is more important than the strike rate which Doull fully opposed.

Statements of Simon Doull about Rizwan and Others in Pakistan Super League
Doull hasn’t been spooked to denounce Pakistan’s big players in the last PSL, recommending Mohammad Rizwan retire when he was bumbling in a match at the start of the innings. Rizwan went on to make a hundred in that innings, but Doull stood by his criticism later on.
His statements about Dale Steyn back in 2021 also got controversial though it was a joke but the South African ferocious bowler took that thing very seriously. He said Dale Steyn’s visual appearance makes him look like a man having a midlife crisis.
Simon Doull’s Hot Statement about Virat Kohli
Fans across the world have immensely criticized Doull for his startling remarks about Virat Kohli for decelerating a bit down just for the sake of his achievement. The epitome of his discussion was that Virat Kohli is concerned about a personal milestone, taking 10 balls to score eight runs. ‘Started like a train, took 10 balls from 42-50 runs’.
A major theme of the reaction shown by the Fans was that the Indian superstar has never been selfish in his career. A few months back he was batting on 49 in the last over. He asked Dinesh Karthik to keep hitting without worrying about giving him a strike back.
Kohli is the last guy on earth to care about personal landmarks. He has attained everything already. What makes people think at this stage in his career he is concerned about fifty in a group match of a domestic league? This is how people have argued about the recent statements of Simon Doull.
