It was another action-packed day for the Pakistan athletes in the 2022 Asian Games. There were some notable performances in the Squash, Table Tennis, and Bridge competitions. Whereas the young contingent of swimmers continued to struggle in various categories. In this blog, we review the results of Pakistan athletes on Day 4 of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Shooting
Usman Chand had an impressive outing in stage 2 of the Skeet Men’s competition. He missed out on qualifying for the final by a mere two points. In the end, his tally of 118 points earned him 12th place in the competition. Other Pakistani shooters who were involved with Usman were Ahmad Usman and Imam Haroon. Ahmad finished in 22nd position with 114 points, whereas Imam finished in 35th position with 105 points.
These three men also resumed their Skeet Team Men competition form where they left off yesterday. Their tally of 337 points was only good enough to secure 8th place out of nine teams.
Kishmala Talat participated in the 25m Women’s Pistol competition. After doing well in the Precision round yesterday, she was hoping to elevate her game further in the rapid-fire round in a bid to qualify for the finals. Unfortunately, she narrowly missed out on securing a spot in the final. Her score of 579 was three less than the Chinese Taipei shooter who took the last qualifying spot of the final.
Boxing
After Muhammad Qasim’s defeat yesterday, another Pakistani boxer got knocked out in the opening round of the Asian Games 2022. Ibrahim who was taking part in the Men’s 57-63.5 Kg category was beaten comprehensively by Iraq’s Ali Qasim Hamdan. By doing so, he booked his spot in the quarterfinals of the competition.
Bridge
There was plenty of action for Pakistan athletes in the Bridge event. They were involved in both Men’s Team and Mixed Team categories, where they won two matches in each category. The results for both categories are as follows:

Swimming
Seven swimmers were in action for Pakistan across five different categories. Unfortunately, none of them could register a time worthy of reaching the finals of their respective categories. Azhar Abbas finished his Men’s 100m Butterfly race with a time of 1:02.70. Ahmed Durrani and Amaan Siddiqui were involved in the Men’s 200m Freestyle category. Ahmed managed a time of 1:59.29, whereas Amaan finished the race in 1:59.77.
Fatima, Hamza, Ahmed, and Jehanara also took part in the Mixed 4 x 100m Medley Relay. The young swimmers were able to put a time of 4:46.07 on the board. Apart from the relay race, Fatima Adnan also participated in the Women’s 100m Backstroke category where she managed a time of 1:19.22. Furthermore, Ameena Ameer made her Asian Games debut in the Women’s 100m Butterfly category. The 17-year-old registered a time of 1:17.99.

Table Tennis
After failing to make a mark in the Table Tennis Team category, the men in green tried to make a menace in the singles and doubles category. Unfortunately, only a few of them were able to succeed. Muhammad Shah lost to Saudi Arabia’s Ali Noor in the Men’s Singles Round of 64 contest. Whereas Haiqa Hassan was defeated by Lebanon’s Mariana Sahakian in the Women’s Singles Round of 64 match. Haiqa and Shah then paired together in the Mixed Doubles Round of 32. They faced Maldvies’ duo of Moosa Munsif and Aishath Rafa. After a very closely fought contest, the Maldives team won the match by 3-2.
Another mixed doubles duo of Faizan Zahoor and Hoor Fawad faced off Singapore’s pair of Yew En Koen Pang and Xin Ru Wong. The Singapore players were able to win comprehensively by 3-0. Despite all these defeats, there was some joy at last for Pakistan in the table tennis event. Muhammad Shah and Faizan Zahoor defeated Nepal’s duo of Sanyog Kapali and Rubin Maharjan to advance to the next round.
Squash
Pakistan athletes continued to impress in the Squash event. The Men’s Team stretched its winning streak to four games by defeating Singapore and arch-rivals India in the Pool A fixtures. The Women’s team was also able to put an end to its two-match losing streak, as it defeated Nepal by 3-0.
