With the final date (28 September) of announcing the team roaster for the 13th edition of the Men’s ODI World Cup passed, we take a look at every team’s best-selected 15 (and reserves) and we also determine what could be their best Playing XI.

2023 World Cup Squads

Pakistan

Pakistan announced their tournament squad on 22 September 2023. They also announced three reserved players Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Haris and Zaman Khan.

India

India announced their team roaster on 5 September 2023. They originally had Axar Patel in the side but he was ruled out due to sustaining quadriceps strain. Ravichandran Ashwin was named his replacement.

Australia

Australia announced their team roaster on 6 September 2023. They had a few changes in between with Marnus Labuschagne, originally not included, being brought in for Ashton Agar. The latter was ruled out due to a calf injury. Travis Head is also injured, but he is in and is expected to play the last half of the tournament.

South Africa

South Africa announced their team squad on 5 September 2023. They had a couple of shuffles with Anrich Nortje and Sisanda Magala ruled out and Andile Phehlukwayo and Lizaad Williams named replacements.

Defending Champions England announced their squad on 17 September 2023. Originally named in the 15, Jason Roy later had to be ruled out due to back spasms. Harry Brook was called as a replacement.

New Zealand

Last tournament runners-up New Zealand revealed their roaster on 11 September 2023. Skipper Kane Williamson was not included at first with his deputy Tom Latham named as the leader. But with Williamson showing signs of quick recovery, he was called into the 15.

Sri Lanka revealed their team on 22 September 2023. Their star player Wanindu Hasaranga, as well as three other bowlers, had to miss the tournament due to injuries they sustained. They also announced one reserved player; Chamika Karunaratne.
