After impressing on the opening day of the Asian Games 2022, Pakistan athletes failed to replicate their performances from the previous day as various athletes got knocked out from different competitions. In this blog, we review the results of Pakistan athletes on Day 2 of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Shooting
In the 10m Air Rifle Men’s Qualification contest, three Pakistani shooters were in action. All three failed to advance to the next round. Their scores and ranks were as follows:

| Points | 622.7 | 616.7 | 608.4 |
| Rank | 31st | 44th | 53rd |
They needed a minimum of 629.6 points to qualify for the finals, but they could not do so. These three shooters then worked together as a team in the 10m Air Rifle Team Men’s competition. Once again they were unable to perform well and finished in 13th spot among 14 teams.
On the other hand, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir continued his good from from yesterday and finished in 5th spot in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men’s competition. By doing so he qualified for the final of the event. Unfortunately, the 36-year-old could not find his shooting accuracy in the final and finished in last place.

Asad Iqbal, Zahid Iqbal Khan, Amjad Baig, and Muzamil Shahzad took part in Men’s Quadruple Sculls Final B contest and crossed the finish line in 6:27.72. This led them to end the contest in 7th position.
Furthermore, Zahid Iqbal Khan took part in the Men’s Single Sculls competition and finished with a time of 7:44.91. This was only good enough to help him secure 11th position in the overall rankings.
Taekwondo
Haroon Khan was the only Pakistan athlete who was in action on Day 2 of the Asian Games for Pakistan. He took part in the Round of 16 of Men’s 58 Kg category. The 26 year old won the first round with a score of 10-5. He was looking all set to make it to the next round. But his opponent form Kyrgyztan came back strongly and won the next two rounds and qualified for the quarterfinals.
Cricket
After suffering defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in the semifinals, the Pakistan Women’s team were expected to do better in the Bronze Medal match against Bangladesh. But the Pakistani fans were left frustrated again as their side failed to beat their subcontinent rivals.
Once again the Pakistani batters found it hard to put runs on the board and put pressure on the opponent. They could only muster 64 runs in the 20 overs that they faced. In reply, the Bangladeshi batters played sensibly and won the match by five wickets. Nashra Sundhu’s economical spell of 3-10 wasn’t enough to halt the progress of Bangladesh.

Pakistan tennis stars began Day 2 in high spirits after their heroics on Day 1 of the 19th Asian Games. Both Pakistan athletes were beaten comprehensively by their opponents in straight sets, without winning a single game. Ushna was defeated by China’s Lin Zhu, while Sarah suffered defeat by Alex Eala of the Philippines.
But the two girls were able to make a menace when they teamed up in the Women’s Doubles competition.
