The former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has called PCB an unprofessional institute and has accused them of unpaid dues in the form of bonuses, which he was assured of when he won the test and ODI series against England and Australia, respectively, as the coach of Pakistan cricket team.
Jason Gillespie’s interview with Cricinfo about unpaid dues.
This controversy stemmed when Jason Gillespie was interviewed by Cricinfo. In the Interview, Jason questioned PCB’s integrity as he said he was still owed money by PCB. Jason also blamed PCB for breaching various points of his contract and also called PCB an unprofessional institute. The sources are also saying that Jason has also taken these unpaid dues matter to the ICC as well, but it is still not clear whether the ICC can do anything about it or not, as the ICC doesn’t have a say in a coach’s contract.
The Response from PCB
After Gillespie’s claims, the PCB was quick to respond. In an official statement, the PCB refuted the statement made by Jason Gillespie over unpaid dues. PCB said in their response that it was Jason who breached the contract, not them, by not serving the 4-month notice period. In a reciprocal move, the PCB said in the statement that it was them who were owed the money, not Jason, as he was the one who had violated the contract terms, and they have clarified that thing to his agent as well.

The tumultuous relationship between PCB and Jason Gillespie
It was in late April last year when PCB announced Jason as Pakistan’s test team coach with great fanfare, but the relationship between PCB and Jason was a tumultuous one. Initially, the PCB gave a lot of leverage to Jason as he was given a big say in the squad and playing 11, but that leverage quickly diminished in his last test series as test coach Jason revealed that his job had been decreased to a mere analyst. Gillespie was given the initial charge of handling the white ball squad as well in Australia, but even in that series, Jason revealed his involvement was minimal. The final straw that forced Jason’s departure was the sacking of Jason’s close compatriot Tim Nielsen as high-performance center coach.
The timing of Jason’s accusation of unpaid dues
The timing of Jason’s accusation has been precarious as they come only a day after the PCB announced that they are looking for a full-time coach. Can this be a tactic from Gillespie to sabotage PCB’s hunt to find a reputable coach, or was this all a coincidence? That’s a question only time can give an answer.
