Rizwan’s rapid rise: set to be the fastest player to score 3,000 runs
Having made his T20I debut against Bangladesh in 2015, Rizwan is on the verge of breaking Virat Kohli and Babar Azam’s record of becoming the fastest player to score 3,000 runs in T20I cricket.
He needs only 19 runs in his next two innings to become the fastest to reach the milestone by beating the table toppers Virat Kohli and Babar Azam. He has scored 2,981 runs in 78 innings so far.
India’s former Captain and Pakistan’s white-ball captain, record for the fastest 3,000 runs in T20I cricket; both achieved the feat in 81 innings each, followed by Australia’s Aaoron Finch who took 98 innings. Kohli completed this in 2021 while Babar did it in 2022 and coincidentally both times, the opponent was England.

In February, Mohammad Rizwan achieved an unprecedented milestone in T20 cricket by accumulating the most runs in T20 cricket since 2021.
He also has the fifth most Player of the Series record (4) in T20I international. Most runs in a calendar year 1326 and has 4th highest cricket average in T20I cricket(48.86) and 4th most fifties in his T20I career(27).
Babar Azam can also create history, a record that will set him right on top
Babar Azam can also create history in the ongoing series. Babar needs 340 runs in the remaining four innings to become the highest run scorer in T20I cricket. Currently, Virat Kohli holds the record of scoring most runs in the format.
Babar is set to become the first Pakistani batsman to breach the 4000-run mark in T20I cricket. Pakistan’s current captain would be eying the ongoing series against New Zealand as a golden opportunity to make history.
Cover drive master is on the verge of achieving another milestone in his illustrious career, as he aims to equal Aaron Finch’s record for most T20Is captained. With 71 matches already under his belt, Babar is just five matches shy of Finch’s record of 76. If he leads Pakistan in all five matches of the upcoming series, he will draw level with the Australian great, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest T20 captains in history.
