Positives & Negatives for Pakistan in this T20 Tri Series

The T20 Tri-Series started on 7th October. The final was played on the 14th of October between New Zealand and Pakistan. Pakistan became victorious and ended up becoming the champions of this Tri-Series. This series has brought a lot of positives for Men In Green ahead of T20I World Cup but still, there are some points which are negative and they may hurt Pakistan in the T20I World Cup.

Positives For Pakistan In This New Zealand Tri Series

1. Pakistan’s Brilliant Bowling Performance Specially In Death Overs

The Shaheens bowling performance in this New Zealand Tri-Series was just amazing. The Men In Green were not playing with their full bowling strength, still, the young bowling attack managed to upset a world-class team like New Zealand. Haris Rauf is bowling at his peak these days and he is just wonderful in death overs. Haris is also getting breakthroughs when Pakistan needs him.

The young fast bowler Mohammad Wasim is also bowling with his full potential. Wasim bowled with the best economy rate which is quite a good sign for the Shaheens. Moreover, the green shirts spin bowling was fine. Nawaz and Shadab took crucial wickets in the middle. This Gives Pakistan a lot of bowling options in the World Cup and this time Pakistan’s bowling will be very dangerous.

Thirdly, the decision of promoting Shadab and Nawaz proved to be beneficial for Green Team and this almost solved Pakistan’s middle-order problem. Nawaz showed his potential and batted beautifully in the final against New Zealand, scoring quick 38 runs in just 22 balls which helped Pakistan to cross the line. The green team can also utilize Nawaz and Shadab as middle-order batsmen in the World Cup 2022.

Fourthly, Pakistan’s middle-order batsman proved their worth in the finale when the top order got out. The men in green needed a run rate of above 10 when the top order was back in the pavilion. Haider Ali made a strong comeback and played a cameo of 31 runs in just 15 balls and showed what he is capable of. Iftikhar Ahmed also scored 25 runs in 14 balls, making sure Green Team wins the finale of the New Zealand Tri Series.

Negatives For Pakistan In This New Zealand Tri Series

The shaheens played beautiful cricket and defeated a world-class team, New Zealand on their ground in the finale. Still, there are some negative points for the men in green which can hurt them in future. Pakistan finishers Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah are out of touch so Pakistan does not have a proper finisher who can score quick runs in the end. This will hurt Pakistan in the World Cup.

Secondly, Pakistan’s top order is playing too slow and they are putting pressure on themselves and the middle order. We have seen this in some of the New Zealand Tri-Series matches. If Babar and Rizwan play at least with a strike rate of 125 to 130 in the powerplay so Pakistan can reach 170 to 190. The Shaheens should bring Fakhar Zaman in the number 3 spot so he can hit big shots and play aggressively.
