Like every year, Pakistan Super League provides local players with a chance to showcase their abilities and bring themselves to the limelight. The 7th edition is no different. We have seen numerous batting and bowling performances that have caught the eye of the spectators.
Let’s take a look at some of the inspiring local performers who have impressed in the first leg of HBL PSL 2022.
Local Players: Top Performers
Abdullah Shafique
It’s Shafique’s debut season and so far his performance has been quite promising. The Lahore Qalandars batter has played 5 matches until now. He has scored a total of 149 runs. Only one time, he wasn’t able to score double figures. Domestic cricket has treated him very well and it looks like PSL is suiting him well too.
Ahsan Ali
The 28th-year-old has played only two T20i games for Pakistan but this time around, the right-handed batsman is bringing his A-game and giving the Quetta Gladiators a stable opener to rely on. Karachi Leg has allowed him to score 211 runs. Twice, he scored a fifty, and one time he went over the fifty benchmarks. He is not only adding runs to the scoreboard for QG but adding life to the power play too.
Zaman Khan
Pakistan has always been known as the land of pacers and this young fast bowler is just proving the phrase right. He debuted for LQ in their match against PZ. To say it was a star debut wouldn’t be wrong as he bagged the man of the match for his 3/32 figures. Next up, he came face to face with their fiery IU batsmen. He only conceded 29 runs while taking one wicket.
The highlight of his performance that earned him the back-to-back Player of the match award was him defending 12 runs in the last over. It helped LQ cross the line and beat IU in a PSL thriller.

Muhammad Umer
He has been featured in only two games for Peshawar Zalmi until now yet has been able to dazzle everybody. In one match, he remained wicket-less at an economy of 9.0 while in another, he sent three batsmen back to the pavilion while only being hit for 22 runs at a decent economy of 5.50.
Ghulam Mudassar
The local player has only gotten the chance to play one game but in that game, he took 2 important wickets. He seems like a great prospect.
What does Lahore Leg hold for Local Players?
This is just one-half of the PSL and the aficionados have witnessed so many brilliant cricket performances from the local players whether it was bowling, batting, or fielding. The national players like Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah are having a great tournament and it seems like local players are taking inspiration from them. Will they be able to perform just as good in the Lahore Leg too? Only time will tell.
