Discussion from Bilal Asif’s Interview
Q: What is your favourite cricket memory?
A: The best memory related to cricket for me is when I took six wickets in my debut match against Australia, and I enjoyed taking Usman Khawaja’s wicket.
Q: What is your biggest achievement as a cricketer?
A: Well, I think for a cricketer, their biggest achievement is getting a Test cap. Getting a Test cap is my biggest achievement; I am thankful to Allah that I represented my country in Tests and performed well.
Q: Why did you choose singing as well?
A: I loved singing since childhood and used to participate in different singing competitions in school and college. However, after that, I never got a chance to pursue this hobby. Now that I have got the chance to fulfil my interest, I didn’t let that opportunity go.
Q: How do you manage cricket and singing together?
A: Singing is not my profession. Whenever I get free time, I sing or write songs; it’s like my hobby. However, I am a cricketer by profession and always try to play cricket at any level.
Q: How do you handle pressure and criticism?
A: An athlete is always used to dealing with such things. When you are playing cricket since at the U13 level, you develop the ability to tackle such situations.
Q: Who backed you the most in your journey?
A: My father supported me a lot during the entire journey. He always used to criticise me and point out my mistakes before anyone else, so I could work on them.
Q: What would you like to say about the current Pakistan cricket team?
A: No matter what the situation is, we should always back our team. Just two or three straight victories are needed, and their momentum will be back.
Q: Any advice for young cricketers?
A: I would advise them to focus on the long format instead of the short format. Once you gain command over Test cricket, you can easily play white-ball cricket. Practice as much as you can, whether you are a bowler or batsman.
