All of the captains from season 6 till now have always decided and have opted to bowl first after winning toss and chase any total while batting second. Now toss also has some psychological effects on the captain as well as on the team. Looking from a professional side, the teams shall not take pressure after losing the toss, all in all it depends upon the efforts and the performance of a team.
History of Winning Toss jinx in Pakistan Super League.
The trend of winning toss and fielding first started from Season 6 of PSL, around 38 matches were played out of which teams who won the toss and elected to field won over 24 matches, the jinx was broken in the Abu Dhabi leg in 2021.
Following this year total of 9 matches have been played and out of that first 6 have been won by the team winning toss and fielding first.
Highest total being chased down during the Toss jinx.
In season 6, Quetta Gladiators set a target of 199 and Peshawar Zalmi chased that in the third ball of the last over and won that by 7 wickets. The toss was won by Peshawar Zalmi and they kept the jinx going on.
In season 7 we saw Lahore Qalandars smashing 206 runs and set up the target of 207 runs to the defending champions Multan Sultans, they chased down in the second last ball of the last over and won that comfortably by 5 wickets in hand.
Winning toss really have an impact on the match results?
Winning toss does not decide match results until and unless the last ball has not been delivered. Despite the conditions of weather or the pitch, only on that time toss can matter.
The performance, the efforts from all the departments from batting, bowling and fielding play a vital role in winning matches, hence toss is just an alibi.
