Imran Khan, former captain and former prime minister sustain leg injuries during a protest march in Wazirabad, Punjab on Thursday 3rd November.
Imran has rushed to the hospital shortly after, and party officials later claimed that he was in stable condition despite having suffered bone damage from the pellets after being hit in the right shin.
Imran, one of cricket’s great all-rounders who captained Pakistan to World Cup glory in 1992, was standing atop a container truck with other party officials when shots were fired. Khan faced bullets from multiple angles according to preliminary reports. Imran’s right leg was bandaged just above the foot as he was moved to another vehicle and eventually taken to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital in Lahore. Dr Faisal Sultan told the press that four bullets were shot at Imran Khan.
The attack occurred less than a week after Imran and his hundreds of followers started their march from Lahore. Imran was elected as Pakistan’s prime minister in August 2018. However, he was ousted earlier this year after a no-confidence motion in parliament and has since organized several protest marches.
