Shaheen Afridi finally tied the knot with former captain Shahid Afridi’s daughter in an event that took place in Karachi yesterday. While the event was attended by many current & former players, all eyes were on the current all-format skipper of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam. After the initial reports of arguments in the dressing room, Shaheen Afridi ends rumors of a rift with Babar Azam with a strong statement.
Babar flew directly from Dubai to attend his team-mate’s wedding and assured his presence on the big day when the critics and journalists were pointing towards the fight in the dressing room.
Rumors of conflicts inside dressing room
Rumors of a rift among players began to make rounds on social media after the painful defeat against Sri Lanka in a virtual semifinal of Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan lost a close encounter on the final delivery of the game as Asalanka flicked Zaman to run for two to win the game for his country.
After the post-match presentation, the captain Babar Azam spoke to the press:
“We have made mistakes and we will have discussions over them. Mistakes do happen, but we will learn from it and make sure we are well-prepared for the World Cup.”
But the news made rounds of the speech Babar gave in the dressing room to all the players. BOL news claimed of a spat between Babar & Shaheen
Babar Azam exclaimed that some players have started to assume themselves as superstars in this team and are not playing responsibly.
As Babar was going through his post-match dressing room speech, Shaheen interrupted the talk and asked Babar to at least praise the players who batted and bowled well in the game. However, Babar didn’t like this intervention and angrily replied, “I know who’s performing well”.
As things started to heat up further, Mohammad Rizwan had to step in and calm the situation and stop this argument between the most prominent Pakistani players.

After a lot of news channel shows & journalists speculating about a rift between the two senior players just before the World Cup, Shaheen ends rumors of rift with a beautiful picture on his wedding with his close friend Babar. Sharing the picture on his social media handles captioning it “Family ❤️“. Babar, who was in Dubai to attend an event, flew directly to Karachi to participate in his big day.
Babar was also seen having an embrace with the former captain & the father-in-law of Shaheen, Shahid Afridi on the stage. Former players Saeed Anwar & technical committee head Misbah ul Haq were also present on the occasion.
People who were trying to disrupt the team’s morale before the World Cup would be pretty disappointed with this act. This team that Babar had put together is very strongly united.
Saj Sadiq later tweeted that PCB management knows who is behind the leaks and he would be dealt with firmly.
Later Mohammad Rizwan also tweeted about the team Pakistan as a sign of an unbreakable unity in the team.
