Usman Khan has been in the headlines following his willingness to play for Pakistan again after migrating to UAE to play for UAE Cricket Team. Now there must be some criteria to be fulfilled to be fully eligible to play for the UAE Cricket Team. Usman Khan’s ban will be discussed in this article.
Usman Khan’s Early Career:
Before Usman Khan’s ban, his career started when he went to do a job for a gas company to fulfil his financial issues. Then in that gas company, his boss was a cricket lover and he saw potential in him and started supporting him.
Usman Khan played his cricket in Karachi and he performed there a lot but unfortunately, the talented player was not even given a chance to play in domestic games hence frustrated went to UAE. Usman Khan had dreamt of playing for UAE playing against Pakistan and scoring against Pakistan.
USMAN’S TURN OF FATE:
Usman’s turn of fate started when he was selected to play for the BPL 2022/2023 season. There he scored his 1st 100 and after a great season with the team, he was chosen for the PSL franchise Multan Sultans. Usman Khan played as a local player scored the fastest 100 of the PSL with 38 balls.

Usman Khan played this season as an overseas player and scored two centuries and 96-run innings against Lahore Qalandars. He played 7 matches out of 11 and went on to be the second-highest run-scorer of PSL 2024 before Usman Khan’s ban.
National team call-up:
Before Usman Khan’s ban by the Emirates Board. Usman Khan had initially asked the officials of PCB if he would be interested in playing for Pakistan again to this he replied positively and said he would love to play for Pakistan. But for that, he would eventually have to withdraw from the central contract given by the Emirates board and would have to be available fully and this was the most hefty task.
Usman Khan’s Ban:
After Usman made himself available for Pakistan he withdrew from the Emirati board contract and this made the Emirat board investigate whether Usman was deemed to have breached the agreement.
The Emirati Cricket Board did some investigation and was deemed to have breached the contract. To this, a ban was imposed on Usman Khan for 5 years. Now he cannot feature in ILT20 & T10 tournaments and his ban will be lifted in 2029.
