- The Leading T20I Cricketer of 2021 - January 13, 2022
If we say that 2021 was the year of ultimate and exciting T20I cricket, then it is not wrong. It was the year of the World Cup too and many players displayed some excellent performances like Pakistani skipper and stylish player Babar Azam, England’s firepower Jos Buttler and many more. But the person who’s proved himself this year in international cricket as well as particularly in this format was “Mohammad Rizwan” and he is undoubtedly the leading T20I cricketer of 2021. Let us talk about leading T20I of the year 2021 in this blog.
Rizwan’s firepower in New Zealand
When Pakistan toured New Zealand in 2021, we saw a very different and dynamic Rizwan there. His 89 off 59 balls in the 3rd T20 against Kiwis was one of his best performances against one of the best T20 sides of the world. That specific innings build good momentum for him for the rest of the year.

Maiden century against South Africa
South Africa toured Pakistan and in the T20 series, Mohammad Rizwan scored a sensational century at Qaddafi Stadium, Lahore. This century was his first at this format and many people said that this is the rise or a beginning of a very great player.

Consistency in South Africa
His brilliant form continued in the tour of South Africa too. His excellent display of batting outclassed everyone and due to his extraordinary bonding with Babar Azam, both of them scored plenty of runs together, and that too in South Africa.
T20 World Cup 2021 – A tournament to remember
Mohammad Rizwan was in his top form in one of the biggest tournaments of the year, the ICC T20 World Cup. His memorable performance against the arch-rivals India proved to be one of the best. And in every match, his consistent form helped Pakistan to win the matches. In the semi-final against Australia, that too with health issues, he performed brilliantly and was the 3rd highest run-scorer in the tournament.

Rizwan scored 1326 runs in T20I in 2021, one of the highest by any player in the calendar year and this makes him the leading T20I cricketer of 2021.
