The Pakistan Super League 2024 was concluded this Monday and Islamabad United finally claimed their third title after a wait of six years. Under the leadership of Shadab Khan, Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultans in a thriller by two wickets in Karachi. We decided to pick the PSL 2024 Best XI of the Tournament.
Throughout the tournament, there have been some splendid performances. Our experts gather together and put on the best eleven men to complete the Dream Squad. The Green Team’s jury picked the best 12-man squad with all the collection of players’ stats and their impact on their performances.
This 12-member squad sees four from the Multan side, three from Champions side Islamabad, two each from Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi, and one from Karachi Kings.
Our Jury picked the best players of the season while following the criteria of selecting a minimum of three Overseas players, and one emerging player.
PSL 2024 Best XI of the Tournament – Top Order
1. Saim Ayub (PZ)

Saim Ayub had a great season for himself. His counter-attacking was classy as usual. But this season, his skipper Babar Azam used him a bit differently. Saim as a bowler was excellent. He picked up eight wickets, in which he became the joint third-highest wicket-taker for Peshawar.
2. Babar Azam (PZ)

No one came close to Babar in terms of runs. The next best was 430. Babar was in a completely different form. He was more attacking and played risk-free cricket. His strike rate of 142 is personally his second-best in all HBL PSL editions.
3. Usman Khan (MS | Wicket Keeper)
7 Matches | 430 Runs | 107.5 Average | 164.12 Strike Rate | 2 Fifties | 2 Hundred | 106* High-score
The foreigner whom often mistook by Pakistan fans as a local. The UAE cricketer was once again at his utmost best. He scored two centuries this season, the most by any player in a single season. He also joined Kamran Akmal as the joint most century maker in PSL history.
4. Rassie Van Dar Dussen (LQ)
7 Matches | 364 Runs | 72.8 Average | 154.89 Strike Rate | 3 Fifties | 1 Hundred | 104* High-score
While Lahore Qalandars bottled this season of the Pakistan Super League, Rassie VD Dussen had his own fun. Played only seven games, Rassie struck at 154 averaged 72 and scored a century which unfortunately went in a losing cause against the Zalmis.

5. Shadab Khan (IU | Captain)

The winning captain. the Player of the Tournament. Shadab Khan had a beautiful season as an all-rounder. He was one of the key players to guide Islamabad United to their third title. His bowling was a bit off-colour, but he struck whenever his team needed.
6. Irfan Khan Niazi (KK)
9 Matches | 171 Runs | 42.75 Average | 140.16 Strike Rate | 39* High-score
The emerging player of the tournament, Irfan Khan Niazi promised a lot in his first season of Pakistan Super League. While he scored only 171 runs, he played his role mainly in the middle/late order and proved to be a good finisher.
7. Imad Wasim (IU)
12 Matches | 126 Runs | 21.00 Average | 128.57 Strike Rate | 59* High-score
12 Wickets | 20.91 Average | 8.24 Economy | 5-23 Best figures
His figures may look ordinary, but Imad Wasim was the clutch player for Islamabad. Especially in Islamabad’s last group game, both Eliminators and the Final, where he became the first bowler in PSL history to take a five-wicket haul.
8. David Willey (MS)
11 Matches | 15 Wickets | 20.40 Average | 7.46 Economy | 3-22 Best figures
The English left-arm seamer had a wonderful run with the Sultans and played a key role as their lead bowler in the league stage dominance. His accuracy as well as his experience was appreciated by the skipper and his teammates.

9. Shaheen Afridi (LQ)
9 Matches | 14 Wickets | 22.14 Average | 8.61 Economy | 3-33 Best figures
Lahore Qalandars’ two-time Champions captain had a contrasting season as compared to the previous two. Shaheen Afridi and his team managed only one win this season and crashed out of the tournament. But Shaheen, while not having strong stats to back up, still did well as a lead bowler, making the cut at no.9 for our Dream Team. He also reached his 100th wicket this season, becoming only the third to cross that mark.
10. Usama Mir (MS)
12 Matches | 24 Wickets | 15.87 Average | 8.13 Economy | 6-40 Best figures
The tournament’s highest wicket-taker. Usama Mir fell one wicket short of taking the most wickets in a single season of the competition. Nevertheless, Usama had a big impact as their star spinner in Multan’s dominating run.
11. Naseem Shah (IU)
11 Matches | 15 Wickets | 22.2 Average | 7.56 Economy | 3-33 Best figures
Naseem Shah was one player who was being watched by the whole nation. Coming back from the Injury, Naseem bowled as if he had not lost his touch, making fans wonder what could have been had he been fit for the Cricket World Cup 2023. The bowler had a fine average and a good economy. And let’s not forget his batting. The boy can surely hit them long!
12th Man. Iftikhar Ahmed (MS)
12 Matches | 259 Runs | 64.75 Average | 193.28 Strike Rate | 60* High-score
2 Wickets | 60.50 Average | 9.30 Economy | 2-19 Best figures
Just look at that record! Unfortunately, there was no place for Iftikhar Ahmed in this tremendous line-up. But there’s always a space in the 12th-man room. The IftiMania truly lit up in the competition, with him awed the fans with his tremendous hitting, reminding everyone why he is still Pakistan’s best power hotter presented at the moment.
