There is less than a day left at the start of the much-anticipated champions trophy hosted by Pakistan. As the time closes for the opening of the tournament the hype surrounding the biggest match of the tournament increases too. The mother of all clashes, the India-Pakistan match, is staged to happen on 23rd February in the iconic Dubai cricket stadium.
Amidst all the hype, reports are coming that PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi has refused to take the hospitality box for the all-important match. The PCB Chief has asked the authorities to sell out the hospitality box. The reason for the PCB chairman refusing to take the hospitality box is still unknown but look at the potential reasons for which he refused to take that hospitality box.
1. For political gains
Mohsin Naqvi is a very influential politician As we know Mohsin Naqvi is holding two key positions right now. As the PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi also holds the position of the sitting internal minister. Naqvi may want to show that he is a people’s man by refusing to sit in the hospitality box and instead sitting on the Isles with the people.
2 To avoid talking to his counterpart BCCI chief.
As we have seen, the relations between the two governments have been at an all-time low. The confrontation on the matter of the champion trophy, was so severe that it was feared that the pion trophy might have to be postponed. All this confrontation should have left a bad taste for everybody involved. This could be the reason the PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi could have wanted minimal or no interactions with the BCCI contingency.
3. To set an example for other Board heads.
As the Pakistan-India game is the biggest game of the event the ticket prices are surely going to be sky high. As reports suggested, the price of a hospitality box could be in the range of half a million dollars. This could have been the factor of PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi’s decision not to take that hospitality box so the authorities could sell that hospitality box for higher prices and set an example for other board heads.
