The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has upgraded their local player categories for the HBL Pakistan Super League 2023. For foreign players, the PCB has also opened a window of registration. The PSL 2023 is expected to take place from February 9 to March 19.
Eight players were upgraded in the category while five have been downgraded. We will look at the players who have been graded in the following;
PSL 2023: Upgraded and Downgraded Players
Following are the players who have been upgraded:

Among the eight members, seven of the players are part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Aamir Jamal, who was part of the 2022 England tour of Pakistan 2022, the T20I series, was awarded the Gold category.
Despite being poor in his recent performances of the shortest format, Haider Ali has been promoted to Diamond Category in his team of Peshawar Zalmi. Shan Masood, who continue to have an outstanding year in all T20s, also been promoted to Diamond for his side Multan Sultans.

Faheem Ashraf has not represented his national side in T20Is since April 2021 and found himself demoted to Gold category from Diamond. Similarly, Hasan Ali’s poor performance, which led him to be dropped from the squad, saw him go down to Diamond from Platinum.
Captains Wahab Riaz and Sarfaraz Ahmed also did not have great results. They ended up loosing their Platinum category and went down to Diamond and Gold respectively.
