Following the World Cup, due to the team’s inadequate performance, Director Micky Arthur, Head Coach Grant Bradburn, and Batting Coach Andrew Puttick were relieved of their duties, redirecting them to work in the national academy. However, foreign staff members have returned to their respective countries.
To fill key roles, the PCB administration appointed former captain Mohammad Hafeez as the Director of the Pakistan team. Additionally, after Inzamam-ul-Haq’s controversial resignation, Wahab Riaz was appointed as the Chief Selector.
In terms of performance, Pakistan secured victories in the ODI series against New Zealand and Afghanistan but faced losses against New Zealand. However, uncertainties loom over PSL 9 due to the ongoing political landscape surrounding the 2024 General Election in Pakistan. Consequently, the official schedule remains undisclosed, with broadcasting rights for this year yet to be finalized. A competitive race among Geo, PTV, A Sports, and HUM/TEN Sports persists to secure the broadcasting rights for this season
Bilaterals and Tournaments
Recently, Pakistan played their 3rd test of the series and first of the year but green shirts again failed to win a single test on Australian soil. Pakistan eagerly anticipating a series win on this turf as they never won a series there. Following this, Pakistan is scheduled to tour New Zealand for a series involving 5 T20I matches.
