The ICC Annual Rankings 2024 are here. The updates in all three formats have been made. All completed series since May 2020 will be dropped and 50 per cent of the weightage is calculated for the series that were played before May 2023. All the series until May 2024 will be weighted at 100 per cent.
Australia have dethroned India to become No.1 in Tests while India lead the charge in One Day cricket and T20 Internationals. Both India and Australia have donned positions 1 and 2 across all formats.
Test and ODI rankings have hardly seen any changes but there have been some big changes in the shortest format of international cricket. Let’s take a look at them.

Pakistan’s New ICC Rankings 2024
There haven’t been many updates in Pakistan cricket. They remain sixth in Test cricket but have dropped in white-ball rankings as compared to last year’s update.
The national team are in fourth in ODIs. They last played One Day game against England in the 2023 World Cup, where they lost the game and crashed out of the tournament with just four wins out of nine.
In T20Is, they have dropped further down to seventh, their lowest since 2016. Although the positions three to seven separate each other by just five rating points. A series wins over Ireland and England may see some improvements. Pakistan also haven’t won a T20I bilateral series since late 2021.
Test
Australia have been phenomenal in red-ball cricket. Since December 2021, Australia have played 10 Test series, won seven, lost only one and drawn two. They lost to India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 by 2-1. But they have a World Test Championship trophy to their name, beating India at the Oval.
India follows Australia with a gap of just four points. These two were the only changes made in the rankings while the rest of the ranks remained the same.

One Day Internationals
The 2023 World Cup finalists India and Australia donned the first and second positions respectively. South Africa made massive improvements in their rankings, climbing up to no.3 rank. Last year’s update saw the Proteas fall to sixth. New Zealand and England and the bottom three remain the same.
T20 Internationals
India and Australia once again lead the table by securing places one and two. By last year, Australia were placed sixth but have made significant gains in the past year.
2022 T20 World Cup champions England places at three while South Africa and New Zealand tie at 250 rating points, placed fourth and fifth.
