Pakistan’s history in the Hockey Champions Trophy
Pakistan have been part of all events of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy. They have won three titles (one tied title with India) in their seven appearances so far. The tie with India happened due to heavy rain in Oman which resulted in the Final being abandoned.
Here’s their run in each edition.
| Edition | Location | Final Standing |
| 2011 | China | Runners Up (Lost to India in penalties 4-2) |
| 2012 | Qatar | Champions (Beat India 5-4) |
| 2013 | Japan | Champions (Beat Japan 3-1) |
| 2016 | Malaysia | Runners Up (Lost to India 3-2) |
| 2018 | Oman | Champions (Joint Winners with India) |
| 2021 | Bangladesh | Semi-Finalists (4th place, lost to India 4-3) |
| 2023 | India | Group Stage (finished 5th by beating China 6-1) |
Pakistan have qualified for five editions. In the 2021 edition, it was the first time they failed to qualify for the final. By then, they were the only team to qualify for the semi-finals in all editions.
The last tournament in 2023 was the first time Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals. They were tied with five points between South Korea and Japan but had the worst Goal Difference in the tournament with -5. This was a result of their big defeat against India in the last game, where they simply needed to win or tie the match. A tie would have been enough as that one point would have let them qualify.
Pakistan are expected to do well in this edition and hopes are high for them to win their first title in six years.
