Pakistan and India last came face to face in the T20i world cup 2021. These two arch-rivals have not played a bilateral series since 2013. IPL does not feature Pakistani players and PSL doesn’t feature Indian players which means the dream of fans seeing players from both sides playing together has not been able to come to reality. But that might change in the upcoming future as the Afro-Asia cup is making a comeback.
Details about the Tournament
The Afro-Asia cup hasn’t been played for 15 years but it looks like we might be able to see it next year. The tournament used to be held in the mid-2000s.
According to Forbes, ACC head of commercial and events Prabhakaran Thanraj stated
“We haven’t got confirmation from the boards yet. We are still working on the white paper and it will be submitted to both boards. But our plan is for the best players from India and Pakistan to be playing in the Asian XI. Once plans are finalized we will go into the market for sponsorship and a broadcaster.”
Reports suggest that the players from Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Afghanistan may be featuring together in the same team. However, the aficionados of PCB and BCCI are of utmost importance as, without it, the Afro-Asia cup will not be able to go ahead. The schedule of IPL will also be brought into consideration so the dates don’t clash.

If the tournament does happen, the affiliates will be able to see the likes of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma playing together.
