T20 World Cup 2024: five young batters to watch out
Rachin Ravindra
Born in Wellington to Indian parents who hail from Bengaluru, this left-handed all-rounder has made it into the Kiwi squad. Ravindra’s performance in the 2023 World Cup, in which he gathered 578 from 9 innings with 3 centuries and 2 fifties, has paved the way for his international recognition.
His big-hitting ability in the T20 format was put on display as he opened for Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 season. With a total of 1553 runs and 39 wickets to his name at the international level, this young talent is one to look out for.

Tristan Stubbs
The South African middle-order batter has been in amazing form in the IPL. Having not made much impact in international cricket yet. Stubbs represented Delhi Capitals as he was DC’s second-highest run-getter in IPL 2024, smashing 378 at a strike rate of 190.90 while averaging 54.00. The Proteas cricketer will look to continue his form in the upcoming marquee event. If he replicates his IPL form, Stubbs could be a fine finish in the T20 World Cup 2024 for South Africa.
Will Jacks
The English all-rounder has been one of the stars for the Three Lions in recent years. Jacks have been an explosive top-order batter and his off-spin provides more depth to the side.
He has been a good performer for RCB in the toughest franchise league. Will Jacks bring an X-factor to the English squad? At 25, Jacks has already played 165 T20 matches, amassing over 4000 runs at an impressive strike rate of 160. He has four centuries and 31 fifties in the shortest format.
With England boasting top-order options like skipper Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Jonny Bairstow, and Harry Brook, the inclusion of Jacks could add even more flamboyance to the 2022 T20 World Cup winners.
Corey Anderson
Former New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson migrated from Auckland to Dallas in 2020 and subsequently participated in the USA’s MLC competition. The dynamic all-rounder, who once held the record for ODI cricket’s fastest century, became eligible to represent the USA in international cricket in 2023 and made his debut in March 2024 in a series against Canada.
Anderson’s hard-hitting abilities helped the USA overcome Canada and Bangladesh within a month, thus helping them gain some much-needed momentum toward the T20 World Cup 2024 at home.
Yashavi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s inclusion in the Indian team ahead of regulars like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer is no longer a surprise. Meeting the demands of modern T20 batting standards, Jaiswal was already in the reckoning for the 2022 T20 World Cup.
This time, pairing up with Rohit Sharma, a partner with whom he flourishes in the Indian jersey, the left-right combination could prove to be highly beneficial for India’s cause.
Jaiswal was the gold medal-winning team member at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. He has amassed 2670 runs in 95 T20s and has scored three hundreds, including a century, against Nepal in 2023. Although the flashy left-hander did not have a standout campaign in IPL 2024, his pedigree with the bat remains undeniable.
