- Ashwin on Asia Cup: India Will Not Participate in Pakistan, Not Possible for Pakistan to Miss World Cup 2023 - February 13, 2023
What does Indian cricketer Ashwin on Asia Cup 2023 say? In his latest comments, spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the fate of the Asia Cup 2023. The tournament, set to be hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has been met with opposition from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with Secretary Jay Shah stating that India will not travel to Pakistan for the event.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) recently held an emergency meeting in Bahrain to determine the future venue of the tournament, with a final decision to be made in March. Despite this, Ashwin doesn’t believe that Pakistan will miss the 50-over World Cup 2023, which is set to take place in India.
“Ashwin on Asia Cup: India Won’t Tour Pakistan, Not Feasible for Pakistan to Skip World Cup 2023”
“India has announced that if the Asia Cup takes place in Pakistan, then we won’t be participating,” said Ashwin on his YouTube channel. “If you want us to participate, do change the venue. Pakistan has said that they will not come to the World Cup, but I think it is not possible.”

The ODI Asia Cup is scheduled for September, ahead of the ODI World Cup in India. The T20 Asia Cup 2022 was hosted by Sri Lanka Cricket in the UAE, and it could potentially host the tournament again if moved from Pakistan. Qatar has also expressed interest in hosting the Asia Cup as a neutral venue.
Ashwin’s stance on the Asia Cup 2023 is clear, with India unwilling to tour Pakistan and Pakistan unlikely to skip the World Cup 2023. The final decision on the tournament’s venue is yet to be determined.
