Should Pakistan Make Changes In The Next Galle Test?

Pakistan has recently defeated Sri Lanka in the first Galle test by achieving a record-breaking chase of 342 runs. There was a marvelous performance by the young star Abdullah Shafique, and his 160 made Pakistan win this test. A fantastic performance by Men in green skipper Babar Azam in the first innings, who single-handedly scored 119 runs.

Yet, there are some areas where Shaheens disappointed the watchers, especially the middle-order. There should be some changes in the Men In green squad ahead of the second Galle test.

Players That Are Definite To Play

Some players will be selected for the next game due to their exceptional contribution to the record-breaking chase of 342 runs. Pakistan Captain Babar Azam is confirmed for the second test. Man of the match of the first test was Abdullah Shafique, who scored the match-winning runs of 160; hence he is also confirmed. Mohammad Rizwan will be the keeper in the next Galle test, who contributed 40 runs in the record-breaking chase.

Pakistan Ex Spin Wizard Yasir Shah took five wickets in the first test.

As a result, he has also confirmed his place. Mohammad Nawaz has confirmed his place by bowling exceptionally well and taking five wickets haul in the second innings of the first test. Imam Ul Haq should remain in the Green Team as he was playing well on 35, but an unfortunate incident happened, which took the 26-year-old wicket. Shaheen’s young pacer Naseem Shah should be given another chance to showcase his talent in the second test.

Changes Pakistan Should Make In The Next Galle Test

Changes-in-Galle-Test

Shan Masood for Azhar Ali

Azhar Ali as an experienced top-order batsman has a responsibility to set the tone for the team, but he is putting pressure on the other batsman by playing too slow. Azhar Ali is completely out of form, and he is struggling on foreign pitches. Shan Masood should take Azhar Ali’s place as he is in his best form, and he can bat on number three.

Fawad Alam for Agha Salman

The inclusion of Agha Salman in the first Galle test was a wrong decision by the Pakistan cricket team as the pitches are too hard for a young batsman to survive. An experienced batsman like Fawad Alam, who plays spin well, can survive on the Galle pitch. I think Fawad Alam should be replaced with Agha Salman in the second test.

Nauman Ali for Shaheen Afridi (Injured)

Men In Green star bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has faced some knee issues, so that he will be resting in the second test.  Nauman Ali should be his replacement, who will be helpful on Sri Lankan pitches that favour spin.

Faheem Asharaf for Hasan Ali

Hasan Ali is a wicket-taking bowler, but his performance in the first Galle test was not up to the mark, and he cannot bat as well. The 28-year-old replacement should be Faheem Asharaf, and this will make Pakistan‘s batting order deeper as Faheem can bat well.
